Release Notes:

Version: 0.0.1

This is mostly a quick update to provide the ability to delete a save if it was soft-locked. The Softlock should not be possible now.

Old saves are not supported due to large cleanups in the code which lead me to improve the save format data.

  • Structures of the same type now have common upgrade costs
  • Changed out the icon graphic for the structure upgrade and removed one-click upgrading (for now)

--------------------

Idle Commander is a prototype, there are bugs and things are rough, art is mostly Kenney from Kenney.nl. The balance is wild and has not had much thought put into it at this point as proving the concept is my key requirement at this stage.

The prototype can be completed in around 10 minutes, by completion that's pretty much researching all of the available techs in the blue tech tree icon top right.

Your progress is saved every 10 seconds, you can go offline and come back later and your structures will have produced some resources for you (assuming you have capacity)

On the left is a panel of buttons that allow you can hover over to learn about the structure, clicking the button allows you to place that structure on the map. Note the mass extractor can only be placed on the green hexagons.

Structures can yield and consume resources so try to balance your economy, if you get yourself into a deficit and can't recover click a structure you have placed that consumes a resource and disable it.

Clicking on a structure to interact with it also yields the possibility of upgrades. In the upgrade panel, there is a red bar that fills, you can ignore this as it's currently not completely implemented.

Feedback is greatly appreciated and please enjoy idle Commander!

Great game, needs way more upgrades and research, and a story line would be nice :) more building more everything :)

soft blocked before i could even play, power generater costs 10 of my starting 10 E and 6 of my 18 M. but to get more M i need to buy a mass extrator i need 12 M but there NOT ENOUGH M TO BUY THE THING THAT MAKES M. im legit on my 3rd reset to try to make it work and nothing

Hi HammySammy,

Sorry, you're having issues, I'm just looking at this now.

1. Place Power Generator (10, 6)

2. Remaining resources are (0, 12)

3. Wait for Energy and place a Mass Extractor (20, 12)

4. Upgrade the Power Generator to help support the Mass Extractors upkeep

If you're not able to do this let me know as this will be a new bug I haven't had reported before.

Thanks.

Might help to know you can turn the M extractor on and off.

The game is very fun, please add more stuff!

Hi Killereks, thanks for taking the time to play.
I'm working on new content and features as I write this comment.

Cheers,

Wob.

Thanks for playing! Yes, this bar is currently not implemented correctly, I really should disable it until It's complete.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, I aim to provide more to do in new builds, currently working on improvements to my code so I can work faster.

im trying to get 10 to level 100

I think I lose. I have no way of generating mass, or whatever the green resource is. Also it autosaved, so even if I refresh I can't reset.

Thanks for the response, it has indeed gotten soft locked, I will try to release a new build today that allows for resetting the save.

I will be working on improvements so that it's not possible to soft-lock yourself, thanks for taking the time to let me know.

Hi Trumpet, the latest version when loading up will allow you to delete your save and get you out of that softlock.

Yay! Thank you! I'll let you know once I've tried it out.

I did it! I essentially beat the game. It was pretty fun, although a bit short. Thanks again for fixing it, and good luck with development!

Thanks for taking the time to come back and give it a shot. I'm glad you enjoyed it, I agree it's very short and I'm working to increase the content as we speak. I wanted to get an initial build-out so I could get some initial feedback before investing a lot of time in content/features.
Thanks!

In order to see the game correctly you have to zoom out, at least if you have a 1080p monitor.

Thanks, I was testing it on a 3440 x 1440 so I didn't see this but I'm seeing it now on my laptop. I will try to get a new build up ASAP that starts with a smaller resolution.

EDIT: The game should be viewable at 100% now, please let me know if you have any other issues.

Thank you.

Yep, it looks fine now!
